Introduction

To be admitted into the B.Sc. (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology) and B.Sc. in computer science, B.Sc. in Biochemistry, B.Sc. in Microbiology programmes, applicants must satisfy the minimum Garissa University College and School of Biological and Physical Sciences admission requirements as stipulated in the KUCPS requirements. In addition, candidates must have passed KCSE with at least grade of C+ in the following cluster of subjects: Alternative A Alternative B Mathematics Mathematics Biology Physical Science Chemistry Biological Science Physics Geography Geography Any other subject from Group III Diploma holders from recognized institutions may be considered for admission into appropriate years depending on their performance at diploma level.

Introduction

The School of Education at Garissa University College was started in 2013 with one programme, Bachelor of Education (Arts), and has grown to offer various programmes.

To preserve, create and disseminate knowledge through quality teaching, training, research and extension.

Vision

To be the School of choice in teacher education and professional development nationally and globally.

Quality Objectives

  • To review curricula after every four years to keep abreast with society needs.
  • To produce at least 200 graduates every year who are internationally recognized, informed, practical, self-reliant and capable of contributing to knowledge and development in society.
  • Pursue teaching and creation of knowledge through research in education, attending conferences and workshops.
  • Broaden access and opportunities of post graduate programmes by admitting at least 200 students every year.
  • Promote Scholarship among academic staff by encouraging competitive writing of fundable research proposals; conducting research and disseminating findings through conferences and publication in refereed journals.

Organization

The School has one department, Curriculum Instruction and Educational Management (CIEM).

Students take professional Education courses offered by departments within the School. These are designed to specifically expose students to practical work in the real school situations as part of the learning process. The specific subject content is offered by the School of Arts and Social Sciences, the School of Biological Sciences and the School of Business and Economics. The whole programme is designed to be practical oriented and broad in nature.

Introduction

The school of Arts and Social Sciences at Garissa University College was established 2014. The establishment was aimed to conceptualize and implementation of the constitution 2013 of the societal needs in Northern Kenya. Since the establishment, the school has been preparing graduates for the award of Diploma and Bachelor degree in various fields.

General Admission Information

To be admitted into the B.A. (Geography, Community Development, Kiswahili, Political science and public administration) applicants must satisfy the minimum Garissa University College and School of Arts and social sciences admission requirements as stipulated in the KUCPS requirements. In addition, candidates must have passed KCSE with at least grade of C+. Diploma holders from recognized institutions may be considered for admission into appropriate years depending on their performance at diploma level. To qualify for admission into Diploma programmes, the applicants must be in possession of a mean of grade C- at KCSE or division III at KCE or a mean grade of D+ at KCSE or its equivalent PLUS a certificate in relevant areas and recognized by Garissa University College

To qualify for admission into certificate programmes, the applicants must be in possession of a mean of grade D+ at KCSE .Certificate in Basic English At least a Certificate in KCPE with working experience
