Overview

The Council is the governing body of the University College. The Council consists of a Chairperson appointed by the Cabinet Secretary through an open process, the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry for the time being responsible for university education, the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry for the time being responsible for Finance, five members appointed by the Cabinet Secretary through an open process, the Vice Chancellor (an ex-officio member) and the Principal (an ex-officio member). The Council employs staff, approves the statutes and causes them to be published in the Kenya Gazette, approves the policies and the budget and recommends appointment of the Principal through a competitive process.
